"...this piece was one of my responses to 2020, I wanted to make something beautiful from a tragic time in our collective history.
I chose encaustic (wax) as my medium as I liked the juxtaposition of taming its uncontrollable nature... surprisingly it gave me back a sense of control.
2019 ended with weeks & weeks of bushfires that included evacuating as they came within a street of my home. Burnt leaves were everywhere. Life & work were put on hold.
2020 A couple of weeks of grace then the pandemic started. Life fractured, anxiety, isolation, everything stopped.
2021? this piece is a hopeful reminder of rebirth & growth arising.
